Twenty-three people get murdered in SDF assaults in Syria’s Aleppo

(MENAFN) At least 23 civilians have lost their lives and 104 others have been wounded following attacks attributed to the YPG/SDF on residential areas in northern Aleppo, according to statements from local health authorities.

As stated by officials in the city’s health sector, the casualties were the result of shelling that struck densely populated civilian neighborhoods. Among those killed were a child and four women, while another victim was a university student specializing in dentistry who was reportedly shot by a sniper.

Health officials noted that the majority of the injured are women and children, with many suffering life-threatening injuries and remaining in critical condition.

Reports indicate that since Tuesday, repeated shelling has targeted homes, civilian infrastructure, and positions held by Syrian army forces across Aleppo. These attacks have reportedly forced approximately 165,000 residents to flee their homes in the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud districts.

Earlier, on March 10, the Syrian presidency announced that an agreement had been reached to integrate the SDF into state institutions, emphasizing Syria’s territorial integrity and rejecting any form of fragmentation.

However, according to authorities, little progress has been made in implementing the agreement, with officials saying the SDF has not taken meaningful steps to fulfill its commitments in the months that followed.

Meanwhile, the government has stepped up nationwide security measures since the removal of the Assad administration in December 2024, which ended more than two decades of rule.
